Dawn Barie, LCSW, MSW, MA
Dawn Barie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State and Pennsylvania. She obtained a Masters of Social Work in 2003, and then completed her 3-year clinical training at the Soundview Throgs Neck Community Mental Health Center, outpatient psychiatry department of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City. She has an online private practice and serves clients in New York and Pennsylvania.
Dawn works with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for mood disorders, depression, anxiety and trauma to parenting support and beyond. Dawn utilizes evidence-based techniques such as, Mindfulness-based interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, EMDR and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, etc.
Dawn addresses lifestyle choices and supports behavioral change for mental, emotional and physical health. Although the majority of Dawn’s practice comprises adults, she also works with adolescents, and their families to address personal, environmental, and systemic factors that uniquely impact adolescents.
Dawn has received specialized training in the application of mindfulness in psychotherapy, with Ronald Siegel, PsyD and Dan Siegel, MD. She completed a mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MBCT) training course with a co-founder of this technique, Zindel Segal, PhD. She also received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Steven Hayes, PhD and also completed an advanced training course in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Her experience was further enhanced by completing a residential insight meditation instructor training program with teacher-certification in Thailand.
